Welcome to this video tutorial on how to connect to group sessions using WebEx Meeting Center.
To access your group sessions, you will go to the course components page of the Certification Course and locate the group session by clicking on the appropriate week. When you click on the week, you will see the list of course components for that week. For the purpose of this video, we are going to click on Week 2 where we can locate Group Session 1.
Once you have located the Group Session, you will click on the Launch button. This will launch a pop-up window with information regarding your Group Session as well as the link to join the session.
On this page, locate the “Attending the Group Session” section and click on the button in the “link to attend” column. Once you click on this button another pop-up will appear. Type your first and last name and email address into the fields and then click on the “join” button.
This will launch WebEx Meeting Center. If you have already setup WebEx, then you will automatically go into the meeting. If this is the first time you are attending a WebEx meeting you may be prompted to run the Cisco WebEx installer. After you have installed WebEx, click on the Connect to Audio button to connect your audio. Click on the link titled “Test Computer Audio” in the “Call Using Computer” box.
On the Test computer audio page, select your headset in the drop down menu beside the speaker and microphone and then click the OK button. After you have tested your audio setup, connect to the audio for WebEx. To do this, click on the “Call Using Computer” box again. The box will turn blue and you can click anywhere in the box except for the “test computer audio” link.
You will see a confirmation that your headset has been connected and you will see the headset icon appear beside your name in the WebEx participants list.
A few things to note: if you are having trouble with your audio, you can click on the Chat button at the top of the window to chat with the group and let them know that you are having technical difficulties joining the conference. If you need to mute your line during the session, click on the mute icon near your name in the participants list.
It is recommended to use a computer headset because it will provide clearer audio quality; however, if your headset or computer audio are not functioning properly, you may select “I Will Call In” to connect using your telephone. Please connect using your telephone only in the case of technical difficulty joining the audio conference. By clicking on “I Will Call In” you will be provided with the phone number, the access code and the attendee id. You will use all of this information to successfully connect with your phone.
